Repentance – Required For Salvation
Message in the picture
“Repentance – For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation and leaves no regret: but the sorrow of the world produces death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10 (RKJNT)
Scripture for the day
Acts 2:36-39 (WEB) “Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”
Thought for the day
“Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do … I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” According to the Louw and Nida Greek-English Lexicon, Jesus used the Greek word μετάνοια metanoia (me-tä’-noi-ä) meaning to change one’s way of life as the result of a complete change of thought and attitude with regard to sin and righteousness – ‘to repent, to change one’s way, repentance. God does not ask our opinion of His word, hopefully we can agree that repentance for sin-going against the will and word of God-is something that God requires in order to avoid suffering the penalty-eternal death. Bless you my friends—Tim.
